About the book:
For over a decade, Dominique Browning, editor-in-chief of House & Garden, had been embroiled in the Condé Nast empire where back-stabbing was elevated to an art form, “an elaborate corporate kabuki.” But one Monday morning in 2007, the magazine folded and she was told to pack up her office. Overnight her driven, purpose-filled days vanished.

With her children leaving home, and a long relationship ending, the structure of her life disappeared. After losing the job that defined her, Browning fell into a panic of loss ¾ and along the way discovered a deeper joy than any she had ever known.

Uproariously funny and unabashedly self-deprecating, Browning’s journey to self-discovery is one that resonates with many readers and makes them laugh out loud. SLOW LOVE is about wearing your pajamas to the farmer’s market, playing piano at four in the morning, and learning to love an unexpected, unanticipated life.

About the author:
For over a decade, Dominique Browning was the editor-in-chief of House & Garden. She currently writes a column for the Environmental Defense Fund and blogs at SlowLoveLife.com. She is the author of Around the House and In the Garden and lives in New York City and Rhode Island.

Check out the video of Dominique on ABC News launching her book.

We look forward to seeing you at the event!

Check out our DC Showroom's neighbor, Georgetown Cupcake, in their new series on TLC!

Tune in to TLC on Friday, July 16th at 10 PM (ET/PT) for the premier of DC CUPCAKES, featuring our DC's Showrooms' neighbor, Georgetown Cupcake. (they are directly across the street, so we can vouch for the fact that they are a hotspot!)

Here is a little blurb from TLC on the new series: TLC's Summer slate just got sweeter with the arrival of DC CUPCAKES, the latest treat in the network's growing menu of food themed programming. Premiering with back-to-back episodes on Friday, July 16 at 10 PM (ET/PT), the six-part series follows sisters and business partners Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis as they run Georgetown Cupcake, a small cupcakery that they've transformed into a sweeping success.

Sophie and Katherine risked their life savings and traded high power careers in fashion and finance to pursue their passion for baking and their lifelong dream of opening a bakery. Armed with their grandmother's recipes and strong family support, the sisters opened Georgetown Cupcake on Valentine's Day 2008. To their surprise, the shop became an overnight sensation and now sells more than 5,000 cupcakes a day.

DC CUPCAKES shares the recipe to Sophie and Katherine's sweet success, following their journey as they navigate the challenges and rewards of building a booming cupcake business. Each half-hour episode goes beyond the frosting to capture the behind-the-scenes drama in their fast paced, family-owned bakery. From baking and decorating thousands of gourmet cupcakes a day, to meeting tight deadlines for discerning clientele, to securing large projects such as fundraisers, festivals and weddings, there is never a dull moment with this sister duo. Mixing in their Mother ("Mommy") -- who plays a big part in running the family business -- adds to the chaos and family drama. The other staff members are as colorful as their cupcake creations--their small workspace, sprinkled with the high volume of business, leads to family bickering and staff tension that has more icing flying through the air than on the cupcakes.
